The Interceptor reimagines the laid-back and easy-going lifestyle of the sun-drenched California beach. The quintessential roadster from the 1960’s still fits into the contemporary narrative of being young, free and fun. Through twisty back roads, highways or the urban jungle, it rides with equal ease, bringing together timeless style and modern performance.
The 648cc engine, backed with an air/oil-cooled parallel twin configuration is built for real world riding. While offering a very usable 47 horsepower at 7150 RPM and maximum of 52 Nm torque at 5250 RPM, the secret of the new engine lies in the way the power is delivered. The smooth throttle response throughout the rev range ensures sufficient power to make light work of city traffic or cruise effortlessly along the open roads.
With its beautifully sculpted lines of the gleaming, hand-polished aluminium engine, classic teardrop tank and diamond-quilt-patterned twin seat, the Interceptor harks back to a golden era of motorcycling. The vintage-inspired aesthetics is augmented with the 36-spoke aluminum alloy rims, attached to the Ceat Zoomcruz , specially developed for Royal Enfield. What really brings the legend to life is the evocative exhaust note, one that meters on a power-on rumble, meant to turn heads and move your soul.
The wide handlebar, aligned with a low seat height and confidence-inspiring riding position, is set up for comfort, with a gentle sports bias. It helps the rider make the most of the agile chassis and stay connected to the machine. The Interceptor is smartly designed to have a 174 mm ground clearance and a whippy lean angle to help it go through any road with ease. With a 24-degree rake angle and 106 mm of trail, it feels nimble in the city, planted on the highways and confident on the twisties.
